I went to sleep last night at a decent hour, after a panicked run through the entire apartment trying to find my driver's license and debit card - as I'm leaving today to go out of town and had to have my DL to rent the car.
I woke up at 3:30 to go to the bathroom (something that irritates the um, piss out of me - as I was never one to wake up in the middle of the night, and now it's about twice a night) and I couldn't fall back asleep. My sinuses were full of so much pressure and I just couldn't get comfortable. I finally fell asleep at about 5:30, and the alarm went off at 6. It seems I've done nothing since then except blow my nose. The mucus - my god. It's unreal how much of it there is. My head feels like it's in a vise - and I have to fly this evening - which never feels good with a sinus infection/cold/whatever kind of plague is upon me at the moment.
I can't seem to get ahold of my OB this morning, and was wondering if any of you knew some "safe" over the counter meds I can take as I'm in a bad way this morning.

Mucinex or Robitussin should be safe. Take it with plenty of water. Safe flight, sweetie!
I just got over bronchitis and my doctor told me Robitussin DM for the congestion. Also, benadryl to dry up the nose. Good luck and I so know how you feel. I am finally able to get through the day without coughing a peeing my pants all day. ;)
Hi. You don't know me, but I found you through Helen's comments. And I've been admiring your photos for awhile.
So anyway, my suggestion is Simply Saline (or any other preservative-free saline rinse). The trick is to not just squirt some up there but (brace yourself) to tip your head and squirt it up there until it comes out the other nostril. Blow. Repeat until all cleared out. And you can do it as often as you want.
Oh, the salty taste and weird feeling get bearable once you've done it a few times.
I don't envy your flying with sinus issues.
Tylenol. Robitussin DM, warm salt gargle, Afrin or saline nose drops, Chlortrimeton Tablets (haven't a clue what they are), Benadryl, Robitussin Expectorant.
These are what my OB recommends.
